Texture Lab is a collection of 9 procedural maps including Fire, Water, Fog, Electrics, Strata, Noise, Tiling Geometry, Tiling Lattices, and Tiling Tesselations. These procedural work in much the same way as the ones that ship with 3ds max, and can be used in any combination to produce stunning effects.
Texture Lab Elemental Tools and Tiling Tools have been combined into a single product now named Texture Lab. The combined product is available for 3ds max 6.x and later only at this time. If you wish to purchase these individually, you may do so for 3ds max 5.x and earlier. Please contact sales@digimation.com for purchasing earlier versions.
If you are an existing owner of both Texture Lab products, you may upgrade to the combined product for free by contacting support@digimation.com with your existing serial numbers. You will be given a new serial number for the combined product and a link to download the final installer. If you own one of the two products, you must purchase an upgrade by selecting the proper upgrade from the drop down list above. Note: upgrades are only necessary for 3ds max 6 and later.
Texture Lab: Elemental Tools: Tlab is the first collection of 6 procedural mapping types representing Fire, Water, Fog, Electrics, Strata and Noise. These procedural work in much the same way as the ones that ship with 3ds max, such as Dents or Marble, and can be used in any combination to produce stunning effects - everything from animated swirling clouds, and water caustics, to jittery electricity or skin. All of the map types are animatable and loopable (except for Fire) which means that a user doesnt need to render out hundreds of frames to get a "repeatable" animated pattern. Each of the textures utilize 6 color knots that can be altered for an infinite variety of patterns.
Since all of Texture Labs maps work in the standard Material Editor, most of the parameters are animatable over time as well. One other unique feature of Texture Lab: Elemental Tools is that unlike the procedurals that ship with 3ds max, the 6 Tlab maps can be automatically converted from XYZ mapping coordinates to UVW, with a single check box. The package consists of 1 routine that appears as 6 map types in the Material Editor: Elemental Tools - All of these maps may be referenced wherever a normal bitmap might be used. Hence, Texture Lab maps can be used in projector spotlights as well as on objects!
Texture Lab: Tiling Tools is the sequel to the original Texture Lab: Elemental Tools plugin. Like the original Texture Lab: Elemental Tools, Texture Lab: Tiling Tools is a collection of material maps for 3ds max and consists of 3 powerful mapping types. These maps may be applied to any map channel in any material, but are generally used in the Diffuse, Opacity, and/or Bump map channels. With them, you can create tilable patterns of just about any shape. Tiling Tools allows you to create repeatable brick, shingles, fish scales and more in minutes. Whats more, Tiling Tools utilizes very little memory and generates amazingly fast! Plus, the system ships with over 50 preset materials for you to use immediately.
For example, using these maps in the opacity channel is a quick, yet powerful way for creating a variety of cages and grates. These maps may also be used as Displacement and Environment maps, providing you with a wealth of opportunity for creating unique objects and environments. Texture Lab: Tiling Tools is designed to create a wide variety of repetitive procedural patterns that tile seamlessly across the surface of an object. Because of the procedural nature of these plugins, you can quickly and easily modify any parameter to make subtle changes or drastic changes in how the material looks. In many cases, this can also be animated. Texture Lab: Tiling Tools is composed of three map plugins: Tiling Geometry, Tiling Lattice, and Tiling Tesselations.
